Each summer the IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI, offers high school and middle school students in grades 7-12 a unique selection of week-long workshops – fun, interactive learning experiences designed as an introduction to the exciting field of informatics and computing.
Workshops are geared towards different areas of informatics, featuring subject matter involving Bioinformatics, Health Informatics and Media Arts and Science, and are led by faculty of the BioHealth and Human-Centered Computing departments. Students will get the opportunity to use industry-leading computer technology, production equipment and software programs during the hands-on workshops where students will have the opportunity to work on project that involve 3D and Visual Effects, Mobile App Development, Bioinformatics in Personalized Medicine and Therapeutics, and Game Design with Unreal 4.
Workshops start June 8 and continue through July 24, with the exception of the week of July 4 and are offered 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drop-off/Pick-up is 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 4 to 4:30 p.m. Parking is available for an additional fee. Students must bring their own lunch and each participant will receive a t-shirt. The School of Informatics is located at 535 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46202. Cost is $189 for any one; $179 each for any two; $169 each for any three or more.
