Virginia Richardson, a 2007 Media Arts & Science graduate, served as a keynote speaker recently for Black Entertainment Television (BET). Richardson addressed attendees at BET’s internship orientation, sharing with students the importance of higher education, and the value of developing a “personal brand” in the workplace.
“Always believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams. It’s never too late,” Richardson shared, adding that personal branding is a direct representation of a person’s skills and character. She also emphasized that potential employers and other professionals value versatility in people.
Richardson currently works in BET’s Creative Services/Marketing department. In addition to her fulltime BET responsibilities, Richardson also is interning with Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
Richardson joined the BET family as an intern in the summer of 2006 while completing her School of Informatics and Computing studies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Music Technology Engineering.
