The School of Informatics and Computing has successfully concluded a nationwide search for a new director for its Health Information Administration (HIA) program. Lauri L. Perry, registered health information administrator, will join the Informatics faculty in mid-April. She will be responsible for the planning, development, organization, administration, program review and general effectiveness of the program. Perry is currently the director of a Health Information Management program in Newport News, Va.
Perry has a Master of Jurisprudence from Loyola University’s Beazley Institute of Health Law and Policy; a bachelor’s degree in health information management; and an associate’s degree in accounting with minors in computer programming and business. She has extensive experience in the Health Information Management industry, including work in billing, coding, quality systems, call centers, patient accounts, and insurance records. She is currently the elected director of the Virginia Health Information Management Association.
