The IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI has a new course offering sure to put the sizzle in your digital summer!
Mobility/Pervasive Computing (I400/N485) (3 cr.), is a 12-week course. Taught by Wade Mitchell, this course will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-9:15 p.m., as well as an online section. No programming background will be required.
This course will cover the history, current concepts, and future directions of mobile and pervasive computing. The course will begin with a short review of computing architecture from large systems through micro-computing to bring us to the ability for modern mobile computing.
The course will look at current trends in mobile computing including various devices and platforms such as laptops, smart phones, and less obvious devices like in-car navigation systems. Applications including communications, information retrieval, and entertainment will be examined as well as social effects of pervasive computing.
Finally, future directions will look at cutting edge mobile computing from various leaders in technology development.
Priority registration begins on Monday, March 23.
