Biography
Arjan Durresi’s research and teaching interests include trustworthy AI, AI control and alignment, cybersecurity, networking, and quantum computing. In addition to his academic career, he is a former senior system designer in R&D for Italian telecommunications software company Telesoft.
He’s particularly interested in measuring, managing, and using trust among various interacting actors, such as humans-humans, humans-machines, and machines-machines, to develop better decision-making systems in critical fields, including security, health care, networks, finance, and managing physical and computing resources.
Cloud computing, operating systems, and computer architecture are among Durresi’s other teaching interests. He’s won multiple “best paper” awards and is the principal investigator of seven National Science Foundation-funded research projects. Durresi was named among the top 2% of scientists on Stanford list 2021, 2022.
A recipient of the IU Trustee Teaching Award (2012), Durresi has been a Fellow of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, Indiana University at Bloomington since 2010.
