Yan Zhuang’s research advances trustworthy, patient-centered health informatics by combining large language models (LLMs) with modern data infrastructure. His work focuses on improving clinical information retrieval and data standardization to enable scalable health information exchange and the generation of real-world evidence.
He also develops distributive and privacy-preserving data sharing and governance methods, including blockchain-enabled approaches, to support responsible use of sensitive health data across institutions. Prior to joining Indiana University Indianapolis, he was a postdoctoral associate at the National Institute of Health Data Science, Peking University, and he served as an adjunct research assistant professor at the Advanced Institute of Information Technology at Peking University.
