Apply to IU Indianapolis through the Office of Admissions, and choose Luddy as your starting point from day one. Listing a Luddy major on your application and meeting the eligibility criteria makes you eligible for direct admission, giving you access to Luddy resources and community right away.
Prefer to start in IU Indy’s University College? You can still take Luddy courses, connect with our advisors, and get involved with student groups—then certify into the school early in your academic journey.
Admission requirements
Incoming freshmen may apply for direct admission to the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering in Indianapolis at any point between August 1 and May 1 of their senior year.
Anyone with a 3.0 or above GPA will be directly admitted to Luddy Indianapolis.
To officially become a Luddy student, you must meet the following:
Minimum 2.5 GPA
12 completed credit hours
A grade of C– or better in one of these courses (based on intended major):
Artificial Intelligence: AIS-I 100
Biomedical Informatics: INFO-B 101 or INFO-I 201
Computer Science (B.A./B.S.): CSCI-C 200
Data Science: LIS-S 201
Health Information Management: HIM-M 108
Informatics: INFO-I 101
Media Arts and Science: NEWM-N 100
Certification Process
Ensure your major is listed as a "pre-Luddy" program in University College. You’ll be automatically reviewed after each semester once grades are posted. If you qualify, a Luddy advisor will contact you with next steps.
