Fayeq J. Syed’s teaching focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Natural Language Processing, with an emphasis on applied, project-based learning that connects theory to real-world systems.
Prior to joining IU Indianapolis, Fayeq served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Toledo, where he taught core and advanced computing courses across in-person, hybrid, and online formats, and mentored graduate and undergraduate research projects. Earlier, he held an Assistant Professor position in BGSBU University, Jammu and Kashmir, India, contributing to both curriculum development and interdisciplinary teaching in computer science at graduate level.
Dr. Syed’s research lies at the intersection of applied AI, machine learning, and language technologies, with applications in healthcare analytics, intelligent systems, and data-driven decision making. His work includes developing machine learning models for clinical prediction, optimization algorithms for healthcare systems, and NLP-based solutions, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
