The group, Women in Technology (WIT) at IUPUI, will hold “Networking With WIT”, Tuesday, March 11th, in Campus Center rooms 450A and B from 10am-4pm.
“Networking With WIT” is an event designed to give students interested in technology the opportunity to talk with potential employers about jobs and internships during the Career Fair beginning at 10am. Confirmed businesses for the Career Fair include Apparatus, Covance, ExactTarget, Kronos, the Kinney Group, and Raytheon.
The keynote address will be delivered by Moira Hardek, beginning at 2pm. Ms. Hardek is the President and CEO of Galvanize Labs, Inc., an educational gaming company that provides a unique and innovative approach to technology education by providing an empowering learning environment that encourages student engagement.
Until 2013, she worked at Best Buy Corporate Headquarters in Richfield, MN, for their service group known as Geek Squad. In 2007, she created and piloted a program called Geek Squad Summer Academy, which is a summer technology camp for kids, with a focus on getting girls interested in tech related activities. She also helped to roll out the camp nationwide in 2008 and finally stepped away from the program after the 2012 tour.
Students will also have the opportunity to showcase their ideas, passions, or any insight they might have gained from tech-related conferences, in the speed presentation portion of the event.
This is a chance for those interested in technology fields to explore the current and emerging trends in the job market, connect with others in their field of interest, and receive assistance with their job search.
WIT at IUPUI is an organization that works to improve the community by empowering women from all disciplines to utilize technology to make a difference. They seek to provide a network of support and promote an exchange of ideas among women from all fields to encourage their use of technology and knowledge of its benefits.
