When the 2014 ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference commences on February 5th, several students from the School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI will be in attendance.
Students attending this year’s conference will have the opportunity to network with other individuals interested in technology fields. They will also hear from Kathryn McKinley, Principle Researcher, Microsoft; Chieko Asakawa, IBM Fellow, IBM Research – Tokyo; and professors from the University of California, Berkley; Rice University; and Harvard University. The speakers will cover a variety of topics and issues concerning technology.
Saeed Mehrabi, PhD candidate in Health Informatics will have the honor of participating in the doctoral consortium at the conference. The consortium allows students the opportunity to showcase and discuss their research interests to a panel of experts and established researchers in the field of computing. Saeed will present his work entitled “Predicting Cancer Patients Disease Trajectory and Discovery of Temporal Pattern.”

The aim of the ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing conference is to bring undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities together to celebrate the diversity that exists in computing, connect with others with common backgrounds, and obtain advice from computing leaders in academia and industry.
This year’s ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing conference will be held February 5th through the 8th in Seattle, Washington.
