IUPUI will shine a spotlight on animation buffs and aspiring media artists when VisionFest, a juried student animation festival, make its return to Indianapolis October 22 and 23 featuring talent behind many of entertainment’s biggest films, comic books and video games.
VisionFest, organized by the IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI since 2005, will welcome renowned animator Mark Pudleiner (Walt Disney Feature Animation, Dreamworks). His credits include box-office heavyweights like Shrek 2, Meet the Robinsons, The Emperor’s New Groove, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Tarzan, Mulan, An American Tail and many more.
Pudleiner will be joined by prolific illustrator Matt Haley (DC, Marvel Comics). Haley has drawn such well known characters as Superman and the X-Men, and was an artist for both seasons of Sci-Fi Channel’s hit series, “Stan Lee’s Who Wants to be a Superhero?”
VisionFest also welcomes back distinguished School of Informatics and Computing alumni Frank Tai, Leon Nowlin and Jason Guy to share stories of their successful careers at Pixar (Toy Story 3), Encore Hollywood (Zombieland) and Firaxis Games (Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution).
The full lineup for VisionFest include screenings of more than 100 top animation entries from young talent around the word, special addresses from the festival’s featured guests and free workshops for Indiana high school students on the subjects of 3D animation, Photoshop and Flash.
There is no cost to attend VisionFest or any of its programs, screenings or workshops. The general public is invited to attend, but some workshops are reserved for high school students only. Full program details are available at:
