The 2012 Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Computer Human Interaction (SIGCHI) Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI), the premier annual international conference on human-computer interaction, has accepted a full paper by School of Informatics and Computing faculty Davide Bolchini, Ph.D., and graduate students Tao Yang, Mexhid Ferati, Arthur Liu, and Romisa Rohani.
The paper, titled “Aural Browsing on-the-go: Listening-based Back Navigation in Large Web Architectures,” investigates the role of a set of novel navigation strategies in the experience of listening to a website on a mobile device. The findings presented in the paper – based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation’s grant “Navigating the Aural Web” – further our understanding of how we can better navigate the web using our auditory senses.
The article has been accepted as full paper in the highly competitive referred track of the technical program of the conference (23 percent acceptance rate out of more than 1,500 submitted contributions) and will be presented by Bolchini and his students in Austin, Texas, in May.
The author’s version of the article can be accessed here.
