Description
This experiential course provides students with the advanced concepts and tools necessary to understand the role of analytics for making better decisions to advance sport organizations, both on and off the field. This course covers topics such as advanced sport dashboard generation, sport data wrangling, machine learning in sport, sport model comparison and evaluation, and sport data storytelling. Students will harness an applied data science skill set and engage in professional preparation.

- Explain why analytics is important and how it is utilized in today's sport business environment.
- Explore, compile, organize, and visualize data to advance sport business.
- Analyze techniques to build advanced sport dashboards that effectively visualize and convey complex sports data to diverse stakeholders.
- Evaluate the techniques of sport data wrangling, enabling the collection, cleaning, and preparation of diverse sports data sources for analysis.
- Apply machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics techniques specifically tailored for sports analytics to solve real-world sports-related problems.
- Analyze the process to critically assess and select appropriate metrics and methods for advanced sport model evaluation.
- Create compelling narratives and insights from sports data, utilizing advanced sport data storytelling techniques to engage and inform technical and nontechnical audiences effectively.
