NEWM-N 253 Introduction to Digital Video

Description
This course introduces foundational skills and principles of video production. This is a hands-on class with video equipment such as cameras, lighting gear, and microphones, along with editing software, which are explored through lectures, hands-on activities, projects, and best practices. All phases of video production are addressed, from preproduction (planning, writing, storyboarding) through production (shooting, lighting, directing) to post-production (editing), as students develop their final project: a short (3-7 minute) film.
Course emphasis alternates between a documentary focus during fall semesters and a narrative focus during spring semesters.
Work produced
Two to three short films.
