Description
This course engages students in faculty-vetted projects through job simulations created by industrial partners. Students develop applied knowledge and problem-solving skills in their major field to prepare for real-life roles in their future careers. They also write reflection essays on their projects and incorporate these experiences into their professional resume.
Learning Outcomes
- Analyze complex problems relevant to the major (e.g., algorithms for computer science, data management for informatics, patient records for health information management), interpret results, and plan and execute effective solutions.
- Apply technical skills learned in the course to complete realistic tasks within virtual job simulations.
- Explore potential career paths within technology industries.
- Strengthen professional resume by integrating skills and experiences gained throughout the course.
- Self-assess knowledge and skills by reflecting on project experiences, identifying areas for improvement, and examining career opportunities.
- Communicate effectively through project deliverables (e.g., technical documentation, code comments, medical charts), essays, and resumes.
