Research under the direction of a graduate faculty member leading to a Ph.D. dissertation.

- Evaluate and synthesize relevant literature in computer science to lay the groundwork for their Ph.D. research. CS 7
- Formulate clear, concise, and innovative research questions or hypotheses based on identified gaps in the literature. CS 7
- Design and implement rigorous research methodologies appropriate for the research questions. CS 7
- Design and develop systems and analyze data using advanced computational techniques, algorithms, and tools for research. CS 2
- Interpret findings in the context of the existing literature. CS 7
- Reflect on the implications, limitations, and potential biases of their research. CS 6
- Devise new perspectives or interpretations on research concepts, methodologies, and results, integrating them into original narratives or theoretical frameworks and presenting them in written form (e.g., drafts, reports, and Dissertation chapters) and oral presentations. CS 7
- Assess, validate, and provide feedback on insights gathered from discussions and collaborations with the faculty advisor and other collaborators, justifying decisions or adaptations in research based on these interactions. CS 7
