Biography
Prior to earning her library science degree, Paula McNally spent 14 years as a textual editor at the Center for Dewey Studies, Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The Center collected, edited, and published the works of the American philosopher and educator John Dewey. While at the Center she edited not only Dewey’s papers but also those of other philosophers, including Josiah Royce. She has worked on several book indexes and assisted with the editing of the Library of Living Philosopher’s volume on Umberto Eco.
Having spent most of her academic career in history (B.A., M.A., Ph.D.) McNally shares her historical research experience with library science students through a workshop on publishing and editing in libraries and through a course on Archival Intelligence.
While at IU Indianapolis, McNally has enjoyed working with Ayoung Yoon, Ph.D., on her research projects examining data sharing and reuse, including the project Data Reuse for Local Community.
