The School of Informatics and Computing welcomes three new full-time faculty members beginning fall 2010.
Amy Shirong Lu, Ph.D., M.A., joins the media arts and science program as assistant professor. Her research interests include health communication and health gaming. Lu received a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature at Peking University, and her master’s in communication studies and doctorate in mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She most recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Children’s Nutrition Research Center at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
The informatics and human-computer interaction programs welcome Will Ryan, M.S., Ph.D. (ABD), as visiting lecturer. Ryan obtained his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Notre Dame, as well as a master’s and doctorate in human-computer interaction from Indiana University. His research focus is on the design and use of artifacts.
Jennifer Stewart, M.S., B.S., joins the School of Informatics and Computing as a full-time lecturer, where she has previously taught undergraduate informatics and worked with media arts and science faculty on several applied research projects. Stewart will also lead the school’s distance education program. Stewart received a certificate in applied computer science from the Purdue University School of Science, as well as a master’s in media arts and science from the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing, both at IUPUI.
