Scope
This policy applies to all Luddy Indianapolis faculty receiving academic salary from external research grants as PI, Co-PI or Co-I.
Policy Statement
10-month appointment Faculty can receive salary from external grants for research time during the 10 academic months, once all the earnable summer salary has been charged on research and/or teaching. Salary savings from this budgeted payment will be returned to the faculty’s research account up to 40% of the faculty member’s FTE. Once returned to the faculty research account, these funds can be used for teaching buyout and other research related expenses, including eligible summer salary payment, but cannot be used for additional supplementary pay. Salary savings resulting to course buyout are not eligible for return to the faculty internal research account.
