Biography

Lydia has worked in nonprofit, government, academic, and corporate archives in addition to working with a variety of institutions as a consultant. She earned her M.L.S. from Indiana University (Indianapolis) and served as the first archivist at Allison Transmission for three years, establishing the archive and managing initiatives for the 1915-2015 centennial celebration.

Independent consulting work includes assessments for grant-funded projects at an academic archive, coordination and planning for a religious organization’s digitization pilot, and assessment and policy development for a corporation lacking a formal archive. Project work with Indiana University’s mass digitization initiative (MDPI) was focused on audio visual format identification and inventory for collections housed at IU’s 7 regional campuses.

She was a processing archivist at Indiana Archives and Records Administration prior to becoming the third archivist for the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, where she managed the archives program, improved institutional records management, and worked to develop digital preservation capacity over nearly four years. Lydia is a past Society of Indiana Archivists board member, web manager, and committee chair.
