What you'll learn

Graduates of the Media Arts and Science undergraduate program will demonstrate expertise in the following core competencies essential to success as an informatics, computing and information technology professional specializing in new and interactive media:

  1. Create digital media that communicates effectively to target audiences across platforms.
  2. Articulate ideas clearly in written, oral, and visual form.
  3. Apply principles of design to create visually coherent and stylistically intentional work
  4. Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop appropriate solutions.
  5. Evaluate digital media using theories, history, and traditions of the field.
  6. Demonstrate technical mastery in one or more digital media specializations.
  7. Produce professional-quality work that meets industry standards and best practices.
  8. Create work that demonstrates awareness of digital media's impact on individuals, organizations, and society.
  9. Incorporate diverse perspectives and ethical considerations into digital media productions.
  10. Work effectively as a team member to achieve shared goals.
  11. Engage in continuing professional development with appreciation for lifelong learning.
