All tuition and fees are eligible for the NextLevel Jobs Work-Ready grant. You must be an Indiana resident, have a high school diploma, but less than an associate’s degree, and submit the FAFSA to qualify.

Certificate requirements

You have the option to complete the certificate in one summer completely online. You’ll take six courses to earn your 18 credit hour certificate.

  • DSCI-D 201 Foundations of Data Studies (was LIS-S 201)
  • DSCI-D 202 Data Organization and Representation (3 cr., was LIS-S 202)
  • DSCI-D 301 Data Policy and Governance (3 cr., was LIS-S 301)
  • DSCI-D 305 Data Curation and Management (3 cr., was LIS-S 305)
  • DSCI-D 308 Database Design (3 cr., was INFO-I 308)*
  • DSCI-D 415 Statistical Learning (3 cr., was INFO-I 415)*

Note: All courses are asynchronous, except those denoted with  *  have synchronous labs.

Students must earn a C- or higher in each course and maintain a 2.0 GPA to graduate with the Data Studies certificate. All required courses are available online.

You can earn this as a stand-alone certificate, or as part of an undergraduate degree. To get started, you’ll need to be admitted to IU Indianapolis as an undergraduate student.
