Curriculum

Prerequisites (6–8 credits)

A two-course programming sequence that includes at least one course in Python. Any of the following 8-credit sequences at IU Indianapolis satisfy this requirement:

  • CSCI-C 200 Introduction to Computers and Programming and CSCI-C 212 Introduction to Software Systems – On-Campus, Online – Fall, Spring
  • CSCI-A 204 Introduction to Programming and CSCI-A 205 Computer Programming – Online – Fall, Spring, Summer
  • DSCI-D 210/211 Programming with Python 1 and 2
  • INFO-I 210/211 Information Infrastructure I and II – On-Campus – Fall, Spring

Certificate requirements (12 credits)

Three core courses (9 cr.)

  • CSCI-C 463 Artificial Intelligence I – On-Campus, Online – Fall, Spring
  • CSCI-P 437 AI System Engineering and Deployment – On-Campus – Fall
  • CSCI-B 455 Principles of Machine Learning – Online – Fall

Select one additional course (3 cr.)

  • DSCI-D 211 Programming with Python 2 (if not taken as part of programming sequence) – On-Campus – Spring
  • INFO-B 443 Natural Language Processing – Online – Fall
  • CSCI-B 457 Introduction to Computer Vision – On-Campus – Spring

Minimum passing grade: C-.

You can earn this as a stand-alone certificate, or as part of an undergraduate degree. To get started, you’ll need to be admitted to IU Indianapolis as an undergraduate student.
